Although this building somewhat ressembles an example of expressionist architecture, the project functions more like a pure conductor of light and a hieroglyph. Situated close to a volcanic environment, this architecture is placed on charred ground and conducts sunlight into its interstices. Composed entirely in textured red concrete, it seeks to imitate an image of fire. All the elements work together and circulate with each other in order to produce an intelligibility and thus, create a complex of sensations linked to the phenomenon of fire. The inner path is increased by the resonance of all these elements. We are dealing with a thematic architecture that functions like a cinematographic montage, by complementarity of images or signs put together end-to-end. In other words, the project is a statement on architectural form in general, as it defends the evocative power of form. It is similar to a "Speaking architecture" inherited from the 18th century, which would have learned from chinese ideograms or cinema. The structure retains its' function of organising language and does not express anything except simply carrying the formal vocabulary, like an exoskeleton. Thus, two languages are confronting each other : the language of the structure, and that of the added forms. The building is specifically oriented towards the sun, and conducts the luminous phenomenon, whilst simultaneously overlapping it with a formal mimesis.
